The Shepherd works for love alone John 10:12-13
But hirelings paid must be,
And since the sheep are not their own
They see the wolf and flee!
Our Shepherd, should we wanton stray, Luke 15:4
Though ninety-nine remain,
Will seek and find us, night or day,
To bear us home again!
For when our Shepherd goes before Psalm 23:2
By waters still to lead,
He will our wearied souls restore
And in green pastures feed!
For God our Father through His Son John 10:27
Has made this pledge to stand,
That none, while endless ages run,
Shall pluck us from His hand!
Though each His own our Shepherd knows
Yet fully is aware
Of other folds wherein are those
He must bring to His care. John 10:14
So when in perfect harmony, John 10:16
His quest completed o'er,
One Shepherd with one flock will be
In one fold evermore!

We were lost but Jesus sought us
Like a wandering sheep, afraid,
Then rejoicing homeward brought us
On His shoulder gently laid,
As a sheep alone and friendless
Feels the storm and bitter cold
Till our Shepherd, seeking endless,
Bears us safely to His fold.
We were lost but Jesus sought us,
Like a silver piece mislaid,
Who by searching found and brought us
To His care in love displayed,
Us He seeks in expectation
As His treasure beyond cost,
Sharing in His celebration
When He finds us who were lost.
We were lost but Jesus waited,
As the father did his son,
Who with shame and desolated
On his journey home begun,
Jesus waits with glad elation
To give us His sonship ring,
Robe of reconciliation
With the shoes that freedom bring.
We were lost but Jesus sought us,
Seeking us in love alone.
We are found for He has bought us,
That we might become His own,
Not by gold or earthly treasure
He redeems us from our loss,
But by grace beyond all measure
And the mercy of His Cross.

When angel hosts across the skies
Proclaimed their tidings in glad song
The startled shepherds in surprise
Beheld a bright and shining throng,
And heard a messenger from God
Amazing news declare to them -
"This day a Saviour, Christ the Lord,
Is born for you - at Bethlehem!"
To David's town those shepherds sped
This promised Child to seek straightway,
They found Him in a cattle shed
Submissive lying in the hay,
For He Whose Word created all,
Obediently to ransom men,
Was cradled in a manger stall
As God the Son - at Bethlehem.
And Wise Men following a star
Brought precious gifts o'er desert sands,
Symbolic treasures from afar
In harmony with God's commands;
Incense, a priestly offering,
Gold as a royal diadem,
Myrrh for His Cross of suffering,
In prophecy - at Bethlehem!
