About Pen4God Global Ministries
Welcome to the Pen4God Global Ministries Faithful Memories Notebook, which is really
an extension of the Pen4God Global Ministries Website. (To be precise, it is really
a Family of Websites, as you will see when you log on to the main site.) Pen4God
is my personal website – a retired Christian minister, sharing with the whole world
my writings spanning over fifty-five years of ministry .
My name is Denis Wheadon..
By way of introduction, may I suggest that you logon to my Website where you can
learn all about me (well, maybe not all, but certainly enough!) and see the aims
and purposes behind both the Website and this Faithful Memories Notebook.
You can view the Website by logging on to www.pen4god.co.uk
My love of writing since the 1930’s!
Although the Pen4God Global Ministries sites are devoted to Christian writing and
ministering the Gospel through the written word to help fellow Christians in their
daily walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, I have written other things that have never
been published, not directly associated with the Gospel – although an indirect connection
can be made – and that is about my love of history. To be more precise, my personal
history. So in the Pen4God Global Ministries Faithful Memories Notebook only (you
will not find it in any of the other Pen4God Global Ministries Websites) you will
find my attempts to branch out into a totally different genre, even though the desire
to communicate is still present. Several entries will be devoted to this genre, that
of seeking to recapture some of the atmosphere of my childhood days. What about the
indirect connection with the Gospel? All through my life I can see the hand of God
upon my life, and this will be revealed from time to time through these writings;
at the same time, it will illustrate my love of writing from an early age.
About this Faithful Memories Notebook Site
You will find this site very simple – it is designed that way! Each page is divided
into two columns; in the left-hand column you will find links to the pages on this
site, links to the other Pen4God Global Ministries sites, various other related links,
and snippets of useful information with occasional instructions on making this site
as helpful and enjoyable as possible. There are no other navigational aids other
than those in the left-hand column.
This right-hand column is devoted exclusively to the writings for which this sight
was designed. Occasional photographs and illustrations will appear in both columns

City of Faithful Memories
Sir Frederick Treaves, in his book, Highways and Byways in Dorset, wrote back in 1906 about my home town in this way: “Things change but little at Sherborne. The world has past by, with its unrestful projects and its irreverent breaking up of old landmarks, but the Wessex town has kept green the memory of its past, and has so clung to its possessions that it has to be the up-to-date town as the page of a missal is to a newspaper print. The city of faithful memories is to this day the most picturesque town in Dorset, while many will declare that it is the most pleasant to dwell in.”
I treasure the memories of my early years in Sherborne, the days before the Second World War, and this is why I have written about them exclusively for this Pen4God Global Ministries Faithful Memories Notebook site – you will not find them on any of the other Pen4God Global Ministries Websites.

The Precious Gift of Memory
In spite of all the development in the town over the past fifty years, it is still possible even to this day to discover the delightful old-world atmosphere and charm of the Sherborne I remember as a boy if one knows where to look and is prepared to use a little imagination. The modern additions may not have destroyed the old-world enchantment completely, yet there is still something missing. It is a void which can only be filled with that precious gift of memory. The Sherborne I write about in this Pen4God Global Ministries Faithful Memories Notebook, with its surrounding countryside, can mainly only be found in my memory. Now I am pouring out those “memories” on to the pages of this “Faithful Memories Notebook” site!

Pack Monday Fair
There is more to Pack Monday Fair than a brief historical account. This we could get from any reputable history book. What a difference it makes when it can be set in reality, a personal account written from personal experience. Here is such an account set in the 1930’s. It takes place in Sherborne, Dorset, England, and celebrates the completion of the building of Sherborne Abbey.
